How to Make an Infused Liquid Marijuana Shot

You may have heard of the popular party beverage sweeping bars, parties, and celebrations—the Liquid Marijuana Shot


However, we’re focused on cannabis at THC University, and avoiding the hangovers, headaches, and negative impact from alcohol. So today, we’re creating a clean cannabis-infused Liquid Marijuana Shot without the Malibu coconut rum, Captain Morgan, Midori melon liqueur, sour mix, or spiced rum.


Our special Liquid Marijuana Shot recipe is a refreshing way to enjoy the effects of cannabis in a fun, social setting without any booze. 


Remember, this mixed drink recipe is intended for those where the use and consumption of cannabis are legal and should be enjoyed responsibly.



  • 1/2 gram decarboxylated cannabis (to make a cannabis tincture) OR a pre-made cannabis tincture—you can buy these at your local dispensary
  • 1 cup high-proof food-grade alcohol (for the tincture; will be strained out)
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 1/4 cup or 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1/4 cup blue curaçao liqueur (non-alcoholic) for the green color
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons simple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • Ice cubes
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)



  • Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer
  • Airtight container or jar for tincture
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Shot glasses




Step 1: Prepare the cannabis tincture

  • Decarboxylate your cannabis to activate the THC, a necessary step for it to be effective when ingested. Grind the cannabis and spread it on a baking sheet. Bake at 240°F (115°C) for about 30-40 minutes.
  • Infuse the Alcohol with cannabis by combining the decarboxylated cannabis with high-proof alcohol in an airtight container. Shake well and let it sit in a dark, cool place for at least 48 hours, shaking occasionally.
  • After infusion, strain the mixture through a cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer into another container, removing all plant material.


Step 2: Mix the drink

  • Combine equal parts 2 oz pineapple juice, coconut water, blue curaçao syrup, lime juice, and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well until the mixture is chilled.
  • Strain the liquid into shot glasses, leaving room to add the cannabis tincture.


Step 3: Finalize the Liquid Marijuana cocktail

  • Add a few drops of the cannabis tincture into each shot glass. The amount will depend on the desired potency and the tolerance of the individuals consuming it. It’s important to start with a small amount and adjust according to preference and tolerance.
  • Garnish with a mint leaf if desired.
